  Press monitoring

The Documentation centre launched the project of press-monitoring on the following themes: inter-ethnic relations, discourses on autonomy, law on education - teaching Romanian as a second language, law on national minorities, Romanian migrants in Italy, changes in election system - problems of representing minorities in the parliament. Launched in 2007, lasted through 2008-2010, the monitoring focused on the online contents of selected Romanian and Hungarian newspapers: Evenimentul Zilei, Jurnalul Naţional, Ziua, Cotidianul, Gândul as well as Krónika, Új Magyar Szó, Transindex, and Erdélyi Riport. The main purpose has been to setup a database (of articles, news, interviews, reports, editorials) enabling both quantitative (frequencies through SPSS) and qualitative analysis of discourses on national minorities from Romania. Up to 2010, 2.469 articles have been collected.
